In Abu Dhabi at the IDEX-2019 arms exhibition, a private show of the Russian AURUS limousine took place. The car will be shown to the general public on February 18.
The Russian Aurus limousine (formerly the Cortege project) was exhibited in a closed pavilion at the IDEX-2019 international defense exhibition, TASS correspondent reports.
The luxury car is placed at the exposition of the emirate holding Tawazun. The limousine is hidden from prying eyes, but TASS managed to take a photo of the Russian novelty. The official presentation of the car will take place on February 18, 2019. "At the venue of the international exhibition IDEX-2019, the Aurus limousine was shown, the world premiere of the car is planned at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019," the press service said.
The head of the RF Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov noted earlier that Russia expects to organize in the UAE the production of certain models of luxury Russian Aurus cars at Tawazun facilities. The Emirate holding Tawazun invested € 110 million in a project to create Russian luxury cars Aurus, receiving a 30% stake in Aurus LLC.
IDEX - one of the most representative international exhibitions of weapons, security technologies is held under the patronage of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan - the President of the UAE - with the support of the government and the armed forces of the country.
Aurus (from the Latin. Aurum - "gold" and Russia - "Russia") - the Russian brand of representative cars. It was created as part of the project “Unified Modular Platform” (EMP, also known as “Tuple”), which since 2013 has been implementing the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “NAMI” at the request of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. 12.4 billion rubles were allocated from the budget for work on the Tuple project. The project involves the creation of a line of cars on the basis of a single platform - a sedan, limousine, minivan and SUV.
Special versions of Aurus cars are used in the special purpose garage of the Federal Security Service of Russia for trips of the President and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
