Kazakhstan celebrated the 19th anniversary of its independence

On December 16, 2010, an official reception was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the UAE on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of Independence Day of Kazakhstan. The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates, Askar Musinov, gave a welcoming speech and informed the guests about the achievements of Kazakhstan over 19 years of its independence. In particular, it was noted that, thanks to the policy of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, N. A. Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan has become a recognized state on the world stage.

In 2010, Kazakhstan, the first of the post-Soviet states, headed the international Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The result of fruitful work was the holding of the OSCE Summit in Astana, with the participation of heads of state from more than 50 countries. In addition, in 2011, the Republic of Kazakhstan will occupy a high post of chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). In 2011, the Republic of Kazakhstan for the first time in history will host athletes from more than 30 Asian countries who will take part in the 7th Asian Winter Games.

2010 was a continuation of fruitful cooperation between the UAE and Kazakhstan. Despite the consequences of the global financial and economic crisis, Kazakhstan and the UAE continue to increase the volume of trade, economic and investment cooperation. As noted, in May 2010, the 4th meeting of the Kazakhstan-Emirate Intergovernmental Commission was held in Astana, and the United Arab Emirates Culture Days were successfully held. In 2010, important intergovernmental agreements were signed between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the UAE on visa-free travel for citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the UAE, as well as on cooperation in the field of security.

On behalf of the heads of state, work continues on the implementation of joint projects, including the participation of the emirate company Mubadala Development in the development of the N oil field on the Caspian Sea and the construction of the multifunctional shopping complex Abu Dhabi Plaza in Astana. The joint investment fund Falah Growth Fund, as well as Al-Hilal, the first Islamic bank in the post-Soviet space, are successfully operating. This year, the construction of the Perinatal Center in the city of Shymkent SKO was completed. The construction of the Central Mosque in Shymkent is nearing completion.

The ambassador noted that the intensification of relations was facilitated by the opening of direct flights between Abu Dhabi, Astana and Almaty by the UAE's national air carrier Etihad Airways, as well as the opening of regular flights by Air Astana to Abu Dhabi from Astana and Almaty. Then, the guest of honor was the guest of honor - Said Al-Shamsi, UAE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for International Organizations.

The guest of honor praised the level of bilateral relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the UAE and especially emphasized the rapidly growing role of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the international arena. Said al-Shamsi noted with satisfaction the upcoming chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, and also wished further prosperity to our country on behalf of the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The reception was attended by ambassadors, heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the UAE, authoritative public figures, heads of various companies, representatives of print and electronic media of the host country, as well as Kazakhstanis working and studying in the Emirates.

The guests were presented an exhibition of painting, as well as a concert of national and pop Kazakhstani music performed by singers and musicians specially invited from Kazakhstan. In addition, guests could watch a slide show on Kazakh-Emirate relations, broadcast on the big screen
