Dubai plans to become the capital of medical tourism

Dubai authorities announced plans to expand the medical infrastructure of the emirate so that by 2020, the country could be visited annually by 500 thousand tourists coming for treatment. By this time, an additional 22 hospitals will be built in the emirate, and almost 4 thousand medical workers will be hired.

In 2012, 107 thousand people visited Dubai for treatment purposes. Medical tourists will be offered a special package of services, which includes visas of various types depending on the type of treatment, as well as hotel stays and other amenities. Each hospital in Dubai will receive its rating similar to the rating of hotels - from 1 to 5 stars. This strategy primarily focuses on residents of the CIS, the Persian Gulf and South Asia.
