International Book Fair

In 2015, the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair celebrates its silver anniversary as it is being held for the 25th time.

The region’s most dynamic book fair last year attracted over 248,000 visitors, attracted more than 1,125 publishers, and more than 100 authors participated in its seminars and meetings. The 25th International Book Fair in Abu Dhabi focuses on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder and first president of the United Arab Emirates. It was he who, in 1981, initiated the first Islamic Book Fair. In 1986, it was renamed the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. The first event was held at the Qasr Al Hosn Cultural Foundation. But when in 1993 the Fund launched a large-scale nature conservation program, the fair moved to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center and has been held there annually since then.
