Carcass of dead 12-meter whale found off the coast of the UAE

In the coastal waters of the Emirate of Sharjah, a 12-meter tropical whale was found dead in a collision with a ship.

The carcass of a 12-meter tropical whale, or Bride's whale, was found off the island of Sir Bou Nair off the coast of the Sharjah Emirate (UAE).

It is reported that the dead mammal was towed ashore to enable experts to establish the exact cause of his death.

Dr. Ada Natoli, founder of the UAE Dolphin Project, said that from December 2018 to the present, three cases of death of whales have been reported in the United Arab Emirates. According to her, the whale found on Monday most likely died in a collision with a ship.

Off the coast of the UAE have been found dead marine mammals. In June 2017, a dead 20-meter sperm whale was found on the coast of the emirate of Fujairah. And in November 2017, the corpse of a huge blue whale, the largest animal on the planet, was discovered off the coast of the emirate of Sharjah.

Dr. Natoli also noted that it is imperative that sea and port authorities, as well as environmental organizations, work together to find out how and why the death of whales occurs. According to the animal rights activist, this will help minimize the number of such incidents.
