UAE's Etisalat operator denied fines

The United Arab Emirates telecommunications services regulator has asked Etisalat not to send warning late fees.

The UAE Telecommunications Authority (TRA) reports that Etisalat should stop sending text messages to customers warning of a payment of 25 dirhams ($ 6.8) for late payments.

The telecommunications regulatory body tweeted that it notified the company of "stopping sending these messages."

Etisalat sent messages and emails to some customers, stating that the operator will charge 25 dirhams if the bill is not fully paid before the due date, i.e. - until the 15th day of the next month.

TRA also asked Etisalat to submit documents entitling them to these fees.
