Parking spaces in the Jumeirah Lakes Tower (JLT) area in Dubai will be paid.
The Dubai Road and Transport Administration (RTA) and the Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC) have signed an agreement that provides for the management and operation of parking spaces for visitors to the Jumeirah Lakes Tower (JLT). Now parking in the area will be paid.
The first phase of the project, which will be implemented before the end of 2017, covers 1936 parking spaces, divided into different zones in accordance with the needs of the district.
At the second stage, which will be implemented until 2020, about 460 parking spaces will be provided. There will be no seasonal parking permits in the area.
“Dubai is one of the fastest growing cities in the modern world, and Jumeirah Lakes Towers is one of the most interesting and vibrant areas. Providing smart, efficient and high-quality solutions for people in Dubai is a priority for the authorities,” said Maita bin Adai, chief Executive Director of the Traffic Agency at RTA.
In accordance with the agreement, which was signed on Sunday, the organization of new parking zones is aimed at optimizing parking in areas with high traffic and providing the maximum number of spaces.
A fee of 4 dirhams ($ 1.08) per hour will be charged from 8am to 10pm from Saturday to Thursday.
The cost of premium parking is 10 dirhams ($ 2.7) per hour, a maximum of three hours. Other parking spots will be offered without a fixed maximum period. For people with special needs, special parking spaces are located at the entrance to the towers.
