Dubai gas stations partially replace police stations

In Dubai, minor accidents can now be reported at gas stations instead of visiting the police station.

Motorists can now report minor accidents at ten Enoc gas stations throughout Dubai. Al Rashidiya Police Station trained 58 employees to collect reports of minor accidents.

Major General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Criminal Police for Dubai Police, announced the new service at a press conference, saying that this initiative will help reduce message processing time.

“This will reduce the number of petitioners for minor accidents at police stations, as well as reduce congestion,” he said.

Said Hamad Binh Suleiman, director of the police station, added that work began with three gas stations last August, and based on this experience, the police decided to expand the program to ten stations this year.

"We conducted a study to determine which roads are causing the most minor accidents in Dubai," he said.

The three roads with the highest number of such accidents were Mohammed Bin Zayed road, Al Khail road and Shaikh Zayed Road.

At three stations, applications were reported for 2,360 minor accidents since the launch of this opportunity.

“At first we trained 18 Enoc employees, and now we trained 40 others at the new stations. We are looking for more stations to participate in this initiative, as some drivers may not know how to report minor accidents using the police app,” he added.

24-hour reception of messages is already being carried out at three Enoc stations: Al Wasn on Tripoli Street, Al Yamamah on Mohammad Bin Zayed Road and Bypass Road on Mohammad Bin Zayed Road. The remaining seven stations will be located: on Al Rasheed near Abu Hail clinic, in Al Mezher, near the market, at exit 311 from Arabian ranches, at Al Khail road at Al Quoz 2 at exit 44, at Al Khail road at Al barsha, next to the Barsha police station, on the Oud Metha road, next to Al Wasl Club, inside the Jebel Ali free zone.

"We chose these stations, since most minor accidents occur on the roads near them, according to our statistics," the official explained.

He also said that Enoc staff will try to teach people how to use the specialized application of the Dubai police.

Reporting a minor accident if both parties agree on the guilt of a participant takes three minutes. However, according to officials, a visit to a police station in the same situation can take more than an hour, taking into account the queues.

When users report the incident using the application, the report arrives by e-mail or via SMS a few minutes after successfully filling out the forms and attaching the necessary images.
