In the UAE, drones will monitor traffic

Unmanned aerial vehicles will control the roads of the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

The Department of Transportation has introduced a new way to monitor traffic in Abu Dhabi - Al Gernas. The name "smart" system is translated from Arabic as "adult falcon".

Roads are monitored by unmanned aerial vehicles that monitor the situation in real time, shoot and transmit information to the central traffic control system and mobile ground stations that will patrol the streets of the capital. Drones will be able to report traffic accidents.

Mawaqif will also use drones to scan car license plates to ensure that motorists pay for parking.

The Department of Transport did not say when the program will be implemented.
