WELCOME TO MIDDLE EAST INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW 2007!

The Middle East International Auto Show, better known to the public as the Dubai Auto Show, an international event, was held for the 9th time this November. The grand opening of the car dealership was held by the chairman of the Dubai Technology and Media Management Committee, Sheikh Maktum bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al-Maktoum. After the ceremony, the sheikh and his VIP consultants visited the exhibition and, according to local press reports, were deeply impressed by the ideas and technologies embodied in the novelties of the world's leading concerns. At the auto show, indeed, there was a lot of surprise even for sophisticated elites, not to mention mere mortals. More than 650 companies presented their products on 50,000 square meters of exhibition space. We mention only the most famous brands represented: Maybach, Maserati, Mercedes, Porsche, Toyota, Hyundai, Ford, Jeep and others.

I would especially like to note one of the main premier auto show - Mayvbach S62 Landaulet. Bearing a somewhat frivolous name in the French manner, this car occupied a huge rotating stand and could not help but amaze with its size. White, with flowing body lines, it looked more like a smaller copy of an ocean liner than a means of transportation on city streets. The stand was literally plastered with those who wanted to capture the new revelation from Maybach, even more solid, even more expensive than previous models. The piquancy of the display was added by two female models in cocktail mini dresses, conveniently located in a huge car salon and talking about something of their own, as if completely not paying attention to the bustle around them.

Fans of speed and style were able to appreciate Lamborghini convertibles in chili colors and elaborate supercars like Shelby Ultimate Aero. The latter, according to the organizers, is the fastest production car in the world today, although their competitors in the "very fast and very expensive" category, such as the Ferrari Enzo and Bugatti Veyron, could have argued this claim. Fans of high-speed driving, who would like to double a portion of adrenaline, could pay attention to the prototype T-Rex, which had by that time managed to get on the covers of many regional automobile magazines due to its unusual appearance. T-Rex is a hybrid of a motorcycle and a car: it has a streamlined cabin, there are seats and a steering wheel, but only three wheels and a motorcycle engine. Being brought to Dubai from Canada, this still prototype has already interested wealthy exotic lovers who live in the UAE in considerable numbers.

I would like to note a particularly stylish "territory" of Dodge, designed in the traditional black and red color scheme for the brand. Here, under the canopy of Ram’s lamb, the company’s logo, truly male “toys” were lined up: the angular Nitro SUV inspired by the militaristic legacy (during World War II, Dodge produced military trucks for the Allied forces), the squat and muscular Caliber and the reincarnated American legend muscle car school Dodge Charger. In addition, a driving simulator from Dodge was installed on the stand, where you could try yourself in track races, experiencing roll on steep turns (the cab was swinging with special electric motors), but at the same time without risk of losing your life. A variety of stylish souvenirs of the company, girls in dresses of company colors around cars - all this forced many visitors to come back, look and take pictures at the stand again and again.

In general, each stand of the car dealership has become a kind of test for the creativity of its participants. General Motors abounded with futuristic concepts. It is not known whether these cars will ever be included in the series, but they can be used to trace how the search for new ideas in the automotive world is going on, how the minds of engineers and designers are driving the car today, which the world will know only tomorrow. Many of these prototypes can now be shot in any science fiction film, and perhaps some of them have already signed product placement contracts in Hollywood.

Another automotive brand, already firmly entrenched on the set - Aston Martin, was presented in a wide range of colors. It was possible to trace how color completely changes the perception of the same car - a black convertible captures its elegance with magic, white - like a bird, and it is not clear why it has not yet soared, with a blue sky - giving rise to associations with a boat or yacht in the vast expanses of water. You immediately understand why agent 007 James Bond should ride on Aston Martin. It was as if the car was created to swim along picturesque promenades, expensive shops and fashionable restaurants, delivering the owner and his companion to a party where the stakes are high, the ladies in expensive evening dresses, and the martinis are “mixed but not churned” ...

The Middle East International Auto Show 2007 once again showed that Dubai has been and remains a platform for demonstrating the latest trends in the automotive industry, promoting brands and world auto premieres. This, of course, is facilitated not only by the developed road system and high purchasing power of certain layers, but also by the spirit of innovation and openness that accompanies the development of the Emirate.

ANDRE OOSTUSEN, Porsche Marketing Manager: “Our booth is not overlooked by those who love the Porsche brand and, in particular, the Porsche Cayenne model. Fans of real German quality are also here. We are exhibiting several new products, including the Porsche Cayenne model, which we created specifically for the Racebroke rally. Dubai Motor Show is a traditional exhibition for us, and even if it is smaller than Frankfurt and others, but here, in the Middle East, the richest car buyers live. All car manufacturers know this, so they are happy to go to Dubai every two years. "
ASHRAF TAMIM, Maybach Regional Sales Manager: “Honestly, we did not even expect our booth to make such a sensation at the current auto show. We are proud of our new car, and are glad that it will appeal to potential buyers, including from Russia and the countries of the former USSR.”
BERND ROSENBICHLER, Audi Marketing Director: “Our company takes part every two years in the Dubai Motor Show. Perhaps the most numerous visitors to the Audi stand are potential buyers from Russia and the CIS. They are especially interested in the Audi Q7 and Q8 models, with unique sound systems from Bang & Olufsen, excellent traffic and other quality characteristics. We are ready to present our new products further, because the demand for them is constantly growing. "
Emma Hamilton, Aston Martin PR Manager: “Aston Martin cars are status, style and prestige. Many buyers in the region specially came to the Dubai auto show to visit our stand, get acquainted with the latest news and immediately queue for the purchase. This year we present the new Aston Martin DBS sports car, and apparently, the sales will be very good. "
HANZ DEUTER-KELLER, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group: “The models of our cars of the latest generation have a lot of fans, both in the Middle East and in other regions of the world. In particular, the Touareg SUV is very popular among Russian buyers. By the way, they visited our booth for five days of the exhibition. I I’ve been working in Russia for several years, so I can say with confidence that I know the tastes of Russian consumers. The current Dubai Salon has allowed us to present our world premiere - the Tiguan car, to which buyers from different countries have shown great other interest. In general, we are very pleased with our presence at this status and significant event for Volkswagen. "
