2010 Honda Accord Crosstour - hatchback, sedan or crossover?

At the end of June, the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour arrived in the showrooms of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Middle East Office Honda Motor Co. announced on June 20, 2010 the start of sales in the GCC countries of the new Honda Accord Crosstour 2010 model.

The 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour is a completely redesigned five-passenger interior with an innovative luggage compartment, standard 3.5-liter i-VTEC V-6 engine and four-wheel drive. The exterior design of the car has all the characteristics of a Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV). Exterior Honda Accord Crosstour 2010 has a smooth and even aerodynamic body shape, which combines sports, restrained contours and versatility of the entire spectrum of functionality. According to experts of Honda Motor Co., the concept of this car provides a streamlined, highly efficient, aerodynamic shape, like a sports car, and the multifunctionality of crossover models.

Honda Accord Crosstour was designed on the basis of the Accord Sedan, but it has the best ride characteristics, all-weather potential, despite the fact that it was changed in the location of the body. The Crosstour design itself has the characteristics of an Accord Sedan.

The Accord Crosstour concept is perfectly justified. This high hatchback is much better suited for transporting kids than the Accord sedan, but it does not reach the size of a full-fledged heavy SUV like a Honda Pilot or a Honda Odyssey minivan. At the same time, Crosstour offers a lot more room for passengers than the Honda CR-V, and it feels more comfortable on the highway.

It should be noted that the Honda Accord Crosstour differs from other models of the same class in a stronger front grille, wedge-shaped rear pillars and a slightly aggressive or even daring design of the body itself. And this, without a doubt, attracts potential buyers even more. It is with this design that the illusion can be created that when the car is inspected externally, the real cargo volume of the Accord Crosstour is hidden, which, by the way, is significantly increased compared to the Accord.

As for the trunk of the car, the Hidden Removable Utility Box (hidden, service, removable compartment) with a lid and a depth of eight inches is built into it.

The goal of creating a new design for the Honda Crosstour 2010 was to maximize the space for passenger seats in the cabin, which, in turn, will create a comfortable environment for passengers to appreciate the new car.

Honda Accord Crosstour is equipped with a 3.5-liter i-VTEC V6 engine with a capacity of 271 hp. at 6200 rpm and 344 Nm at 5000 rpm. Acceleration to 96 km / h (7.5 s) and a quarter mile (15.5 seconds, speed at the finish line of 150 km / h) of the new Crosstour are quite decent indicators for this class, and are not so far from the results of the sedan (7.0 s from 0 to 96 km / h; a quarter mile in 15.3 s, speed at the finish 153.5 km / h). Crosstour fuel "eats" 13.84 liters per 100 km in the city and 9.4 liters on the highway.

Intuitive and grouped controls for the audio system, climate control and navigation system are designed to improve accuracy and efficiency. Honda Accord Crosstour offers dual-zone climate control and a more powerful 340-watt audio system as standard, complemented by an electric driver's seat adjustment, sunroof and 17-inch alloy wheels. The novelty offers a quality interior and walnut finish, but otherwise the interior is no different from any other Accord.

The level of road noise in the cabin is much lower on any type of road surface, and so much so that the driver is more likely to be bothered by a whistle from the side mirrors than from 100H Michelin Latitude Tour HP tires of size 225/60 R18.

The ride quality is generally a bit more relaxed (but no less calm) than other Honda family members. The handling limits of this car are quite modest, but quite achievable. On slalom Honda Accord Crosstour can develop 103.6 km / h, which is very close to the result of the sedan, which is 105.6 km / h.

Summarizing all of the above, we note that the new Crosstour is a pleasant car to drive. It is much quieter and more comfortable than other Honda, and undoubtedly much more practical than the Accord sedan, if you have to transport medium-sized pets or a stroller.

At Honda's car dealerships, the new Accord Crosstour is available in seven primary colors: White Diamond Pearl, New Red Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Opal Sage Metallic, Bluish Silver Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic and Polished Metal Metallic.

Good luck on the road!
